Racing in Daytona Beach is the successor of the short races. The area of a rectangular racing was built on the sand and the beach road near Daytona. Earlier in the Daytona race organized race with a length of 200 miles (320 km) by using the stock cars. in 1959, Daytona International Speedway held a race with a length of 500 miles (805 km). In 1961, the race was started called "Daytona 500" until now, which were previously called "Southern 500".
